How to Set IP Static and Connect Microtik with Windows
If you want to use Microtik devices as routers or access points in your network, you need to configure their IP addresses and connect them with your Windows computer. In this article, we will show you how to set IP static and connect Microtik with Windows in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Assign a Static IP Address to Your Microtik Device
By default, Microtik devices use DHCP to obtain an IP address from the network. However, this can cause problems if the DHCP server changes or assigns a different IP address to your device. To avoid this, you can assign a static IP address to your Microtik device using the following steps:
Connect your Microtik device to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
Open a web browser and type http://192.168.88.1 in the address bar. This is the default IP address of Microtik devices.
Enter the default username and password for your device. The default username is admin and the default password is blank.
Click on IP and then on Addresses.
Select the interface that you want to assign a static IP address to. For example, if you want to assign a static IP address to the Ethernet port, select ether1.
Click on the Add New button.
In the Address field, enter the static IP address that you want to assign to your device. For example, if you want to assign 192.168.1.2 as the static IP address, enter 192.168.1.2/24.
In the Network field, enter the network address of your subnet. For example, if your subnet is 192.168.1.0/24, enter 192.168.1.0/24.
In the Interface field, select the interface that you want to assign the static IP address to.
Click on OK.
You have successfully assigned a static IP address to your Microtik device.
Step 2: Connect Your Microtik Device with Your Windows Computer
To connect your Microtik device with your Windows computer, you need to configure the IP settings of your computer as well. Follow these steps:
Open the Control Panel on your Windows computer.
Click on Network and Internet.
Click on Network and Sharing Center.
Click on Change adapter settings.
Select the network adapter that you use to connect with your Microtik device.
Right-click on it and select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
Click on Properties.
Select Use the following IP address.
In the IP address field, enter an IP address that is in the same subnet as your Microtik device but not identical to it. For example, if your Microtik device has a static IP address of 192.168.1.2/24, you can enter 192.168.1.3/24 as your computer's IP address.
In the Subnet mask field, enter the subnet mask of your network. For example, if your network is 192.168.1.0/24, enter 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask.
In the Default gateway field, enter the static IP address of your Microtik device as the default gateway.
In the DNS server, enter any DNS server that you prefer or leave it blank. aa16f39245
